Hi there! Thanks for rocking up, brilliant you could make it. Grab a caffeinated beverage and a chocolate biscuit and pull up a pew.
What’s this blog all about? Yeah, I’m confused too.
Well, it’s telling a story of me, Jess and where I’ve been and where I’m going.
The blog is roughly broken down into four segments:
1. May – August 2010.
It started life as a travel blog in mid-2010. I travelled solo around Europe and the Middle East in a way that only Australians can. Three months, solid, hardcore, exhilarating travel. I love my passport, my passport loves me.
2. September 2010 – January 2011.
Then I returned to Australia for a few months, just blogged about everyday life in sunny Perth.
3. January 2011 – August 2011.
And then I moved to Manchester, UK at the beginning of 2011 because… I could! I wanted to experience living in another country, and being part of a community. It’s been an adventure of an entirely different sort and one that has changed the way I look at the world.
However I also learnt a lot first hand about the GFC and the rather pathetic job market in the UK. So much so it was no longer feasible to stay there.
4. August 2011 – present
So I reluctantly returned to Perth. After eight months of struggling to find meaningful employment on the other side of the world, I found work within two weeks of returning. Life’s funny like that. I miss Manchester dearly and consider it a home of sorts.
When I’m not gallivanting or working, I’m busy geeking out over coffee, thinking (too much), writing, reading or plotting the next adventure.
I currently live in Perth, Australia but my parents think I’m a gypsy.
I’m on the look out for work opportunities – check out my CV on LinkedIn.
This blog is one part group email to friends and family in Australia, one part thinking out loud on the internet and another part insights into life. These posts reflect solely on me and not on employers past, present or future.
