Sick sucks

August 18, 2010 by jessperriam

The common cold is crap. There. I said it.

The common cold is even worse when you’re in Dublin.

Well first, you’re in a hostel. A nice, lovely hostel but you don’t want to have to be sociable when you sound like a drag queen and feel like a snot monster. There are places you’d prefer to be… like in your own bed or in front of the TV.

Secondly, you have to take cold and flu tablets which don’t seem to be as effective as the Australian version.

And to snowball that into a thirdly, because you’re taking cold and flu tablets, you can’t drink. In a city that has more than 700 pubs and a big beer factory and a whiskey factory, that is bloody tragic. Cry for me, people!

So if you’ll excuse me, I’ll blow my nose for the millionth time today, skip a cold and flu tablet (read: low grade speed) in favour of a medicinal Guinness and hope that this flu pisses off soon.

Scotch. Seriously, whiskey will cure you.

I know I’m a little behind the times, but our internet has been down for a few weeks. Anyhoo, Jess (Emory/Porcaro) swears by good old vodka – straight of course.
