I’ve got nothing to develop into a full blown post – at least not while I wait for my clothes to go around in the dryer at the laundromat.
So here are some little snippets from the last few days:
*Scottish people are stingy. In an excellent, awesome way. Case in point: I was taking a bus from Edinburgh to Manchester and I hopped off at the station in Glasgow to go to the Ladies. It’s 30p to enter and I was scrounging around in my pockets to get the change. A woman in front of me popped her 30p in and said, “Come on!” So we squished through the turnstile together and I got a free trip to the toilet. That made me smile for a full five minutes. Scottish people must think I’m nuts.
* I lost my vintage 2006 iPod nano (yes, I can call it vintage because in two years or something I’m sure it would have fetched a few thousand on eBay) somewhere between London and Edinburgh. So I had to get a new one! I was agonising over what to name him – because Jessamy’s iPod just looks so shit when it’s plugged into iTunes. My vintage iPod was named Wallenius. That’s after Wallenius Wilhemsen, the shipping company that had its ships in Fremantle Port all the time. Wallenius served me well, so this new iPod needed to have a name just as awesome. I chose a great one. My new iPod is named… wait for it… Alfred Butts! After the man who invented Scrabble! Tee hee, Butts. You’ll be pleased to know that Mr Butts is a lovely shade of shiny blue, can play the radio and has a capacity of 16Gb. Marvellous!
*I’m voting in the Australian Federal Election. For our few international readers, voting is compulsory for Australian elections… unless you’re not in the country (like me!). But if you’re like me and you’d feel a little bit naked by not voting you’re still allowed to, you just have to go out of your way to do so. And I am! From a mildly exotic location. On Saturday! I’ll let you know when I get there! I’m totally enjoying the fact I’m having a bit of a Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego moment.
*I’m trying to decide where to live. There are three places on the shortlist, but the list can always be added or subtracted to. I’m currently in the process of subtracting from that list. I’ll stop talking like a cryptic crossword now.
*I’m also trying to figure out what to do next. In slightly less cryptic terms: it’s gonna be awesome and I’m on the lookout for writers, web developers and design/layout type people. If you are one of those people, or know one of those people, talk to me (Comments box is fine, your comment won’t be posted).
